Dog of the Month

Dog of the Month

May 2026 Dog of Month:

This month we are proud to recognize the late Max, an English Springer Spaniel, and his owner, Chapter Core Member Kevin Gathers.
Max began flushing pheasants for our chapter's youth hunts back in 2013. At a solid 65 pounds, Max was a true brush-busting machine, though he never met a mud puddle he didn't want to jump into. Whether on land or in the water, he enjoyed hunting and retrieving birds, and he was an excellent house dog as well.
Max made a significant impact to all he hunted with. One youth hunter he worked with in 2013 is now grown and has an English Springer Spaniel of his own.
Max passed away on 9/15/25.  Thank you, Max, for all the effort and hard work you gave to the chapter's youth hunts over the years. We miss you.  May you rest in peace.
